AG 100 DP with shanks

S&A's AG Dual Purpose Spreader         This special variant of the AG 100 spreader has combined the abilities of a rear broadcasting spreader, and a front banding and injecting model. This unit is just as reliable as the standard AG 100, and it is far more cost effective if your needs require both banding and spreading. This unit has the same features and specifications as its AG 100 parent, plus the added benefit of being able to reconfigure from a broadcaster to a bander in a matter of minutes, and only requiring one tool. This unit is especially a big hit with fertilizer dealers who rent the equipment out with the sale of the fertilizer because it's versatility allows them to have a smaller fleet of spreaders, and still meet the varying needs of their customers.

Features         A standard AG 100 DP spreader comes equipped with a stainless steel hopper, a stainless steel rear spinner assembly, and a stainless steel front auger type bander. The rear spinner assembly is identical to that of the AG 100 spreader. The front bander can be equipped with an optional 2"x2" solid toolbar for the purpose of mounting shanks or coulters, which are designed to inject the fertilizer into the ground. This is a method is often used in orchard applications to make much more efficient use of the fertilizer. Both shanks and coulters allow the earth to refill the trough created with the fertilizer 3 to 4 inches or more below the surface, but the somewhat more expensive coulters create much less resistance when in use.

Operation          The operation of the AG 100 DP spreader is very simple. It has a dog clutch mechanism to engage and disengage the unit. You can change the rate of material delivery by raising or lowering either the front or rear gate, whichever applies to your current configuration, and by changing from high to low gear. When shanking, you simply lower the unit so that the shanks or coulters penetrate to the appropriate depth, engage the clutch, and start pulling. On our models with hinged extensions, the extensions have springs to hold the extensions in place in either position, and shear pins to secure it in the out position. If the extension strikes an object with enough force, the pin will shear, saving you a costly repair on a bent auger and trough.
